Khasta Roti (Wholewheat oven baked bread)

Serves 4-5, preparation time 25 minutes, cooking time 10-15 minutes

 

Ingredients

Whole-wheat flour – 500 gm / 2 ½ cups

Salt to taste

Sugar – 12 gm / 2 ½ tsp

Carom seeds – 15 gm / 1 Tbsp

Water – 300 ml / 1 ½ cups

Method

1. Sieve flour. Add salt, sugar, and carom seeds. Knead into a hard dough with the water. Cover with a moist cloth and keep aside for 15 minutes.

2. Divide the dough into 10 balls. Dust and roll into 10 cm rotis. Prick surface with a fork evenly.

3. Bake the rotis in an oven at 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F for a8 to 10 minutes or until light brown in color.
